BODY PEELS

BODY PEELS

The face is not the only area of the body susceptible to the signs of aging. After a long and cold winter, hands can become dry, red, and cracked. Hyperpigmentation can appear on the hands, the neck, the chest, and more. Skin all over the body can become dull and lose its natural suppleness. Now you can restore your natural radiance with our perfect remedy, rejuvenating peel treatments for the body. Enjoy these luxurious treatments all on their own, or treat yourself by pairing them with a facial peel and other non-surgical beauty treatments for the ultimate skin revitalizing experience.

Body peel treatments have long been employed by the medical cosmetology industry in removing the damaged outer layer of the skin which results in a more youthful glowing skin. This type of treatment is a safe standalone procedure and is effective at removing skin dullness, sun spots, and signs of aging.

Problem areas on the arms and back of the hands can show age in the form of wrinkles and discoloration. Our arms and hands are often exposed to the sun’s damaging rays, as much as our facial skin, and these areas respond very well to a body peel boost. Other areas to treat with a body peel can include legs, back, chest and feet.

Body peels can be categorized on a spectrum of depth and intensity, from light peels to deeper treatments that penetrate the skins layers more extensively, and trigger considerable skin regeneration. Another word for natural skin exfoliation or skin peeling is desquamation. In acne prone skin, overproducing sebaceous glands keep the skin cells sticky and less able to desquamate. The outermost membrane or layer of the facial skin, instead of replenishing itself efficiently and evenly, will block pores with dead cells and oil so that acne lesions or pimples begin to form. Body peels help to promote this normal exfoliation or desquamation so that even acne prone skin can become smoother, more even-toned and blemish free.

At Dermedix Clinic, you may consult with our professional skin specialists to determine the right level of peel treatment that’s ideal for your skin. Depending on your specific skin condition, a treatment can be tailored using our diverse range of chemical solutions. Body peels work in a variety of ways to stimulate cell renewal, refine, rejuvenate and hydrate the skin, as well as regenerate and resurface damaged skin, making the results well worth the cost.

The treatment is useful in combating a number of skin concerns including sun damage, wrinkles, scarring, acne, and pigmentation and to maintain a fresher more youthful complexion. It may also be combined with Microdermabrasion, Microneedling, or Laser Skin Therapy to provide accelerated, dramatic results.

The deeper the peel, the more possible side effects are, with increased recovery time needed. Some side effects that can occur include swelling, redness and stinging. Most superficial peels are safe and effective, whereas medium and deeper peels require careful pre-peel preparation and post-peel care.

Body peels are a safe treatment whether you’re a first time or a regular user. While it is strong compared to other skin treatments, the positive effects of peeling days after the treatment are dramatic.

It is not recommended that you undergo a body peel if you have an allergy or sensitivity to aspirin, an active skin infection or inflammation, hypersensitive skin, sunburnt skin, active acne, open wounds, have recently underwent through a body peel or exfoliation treatments, have recently taken or will take Accutane, or if you are pregnant.

If you have a darker skin tone, you may encounter more post-peel problems than those with lighter skin tones. Deeper peels on darker skin types must be considered with caution, so it may be better to perform a series of more superficial peels rather than one deep peel. Different skin problems also respond to particular peels.

After checking your skin condition, the skin care medical professional will cleanse your skin, apply protective pads for your eyes, and distribute the solution using a special brush. By the end of the treatment, the specialist will apply a gentle moisturizer on your face and neck.

The body peel procedure is generally tolerable although each patient’s experience might be slightly different from the other. You may experience a slight stinging and tingling which is a normal side effect of the procedure and will subside after a few minutes.

Immediately after the treatment, your skin will appear red for at least 20 minutes. The following 3-5 days will also see red, irritated, dry skin which appears like a mild sunburn. By the fifth day, the peel will have already been completely removed. This is dead skin being removed making way for healthier skin on the surface.

Future visits for the treatment will require lesser downtime.

Rinse your skin gently using warm water and pat dry using a soft cloth. Only use skin care products recommended by your doctor.

Avoid rubbing, picking, or peeling the skin as this may result in scarring. Avoid any creams that contain retinol or hydroquinone for the first week after your first peel treatment.

Avoid other facial treatments and sun exposure within two weeks after the procedure. If you must go out, wear sunblock.

The frequency of body peel treatments depends on your skin’s condition. Two body peels treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is recommended, to be followed by maintenance treatments. Three (3) chemical peels every year is generally enough to maintain the clarity of your skin.
